Flat SIGNED by the late W.C. Beeching (1913-1990) who wrote the foreword. Beeching was a giant within the Canadian communist party, having volunteered for the Spanish Civil war, led protests during the Great Depression & did jail time for his political beliefs. He was an accomplished author, publisher and biographer and faithfully served the Communist Party of Canada until his expulsion in the early '70's. There are two hand written inscriptions on the title page"To my friend, an intelligent working class man, (signed) Peter R. Samaroden" and "Our problem lies in allowing our people to forget the struggles we won in the past and are now allowing these gains to be destroyed in the present, With respect (signed) Paul Haimor(or Hainor?) Laid-in is a handwritten letter from Paul to Peter written circa 1986 or 87. Like new and gently read. Interior is clean and solid. Without dust jacket. Very mild soiling to white coloured stiff cardboard covers. Spiral bound spine is moderately sunned. Scarce in any condition this copy is an absolutely rare piece of Canadian political history signed by one of the most active and respected participants.
