Wonderfully illustrated by Dan Beard. Interior is very clean, appears unread and unmarked save previous owners neat name in fountain pen to the ffep. Beautiful red, with blue highlights, marbled endpapers. Text block is solid. Brown leather boards are bumped and rubbed to extremities, some soiling to show, corners lacking bits of leather. The brittle spine piece has been repaired and re-attached. It’s missing large chips and is cracked down the middle. Four raised bands, with gilt title over red to the second compartment, Mark Twain in gilt over black to the fourth compartment. The boards have been re-enforced with the spine repair. A very tight, beautifully clean copy with the noted issues to the binding.
